I met a friend in Pilsen Wednesday to have lunch and then visit Working Bikes Cooperative (2434 S Western Avenue), a non-profit organization that repairs bicycles to sell to Chicagoans and also to send to people in Africa, Cuba, Guatemala, Peru and even the Gulf Coast. Volunteers and some paid staff take in donated bikes – from individuals, from collection drives, and even from the Chicago Department of Transportation’s own abandoned bicycle pickup program – organize, repair, and then sell or ship them. I asked manager Raul Gonzalez for a quick tour. I came in knowing the warehouse held a lot of bicycles, but I couldn’t imagine how many.

(You can donate your bike as well.)

This should be noted by the males hanging out yesterday betwwen Cullerton and 19th on Morgan. 6 guys hanging out in front of a house. Their friend had his pit bulls leash tied to the tree. The dog was not agitated but when he barked ONCE one of the males pulled a 3ft. metal rod out and hit the dog across the back. In the amount of time I was nearby-5 min-it happened twice much to the amusement of his friends.
Another guy on the same block is always seen pulling his pit on the leash and jerking it so hard it coughs and chokes.
Do not take inferior male issues and crankiness from your chronic alcohol and drug abuse out on the innocent animal.
It has been proven that people with such issues do in fact take their hangovers out on their pets and those animals suffer mental-stress issues. YELLING at your 'pet'
on a regular is abuse. I know 3 people in this area who report animal abuse, take photos and video .You have been warned. Police have been notified.
