Luparello donates the wall along his dry cleaners building at 1438 N. Milwaukee Ave. to Williams at no cost every year, so graffiti artists can paint the wall as well as the back walls of the cleaners and The Silver Room.

Williams started "Square One," a restaurant, juice bar and magazine shop at 1561 N. Milwaukee Ave., in 2001, which he sold to Earwax, a vegetarian cafe a year later. Today it's a Doc Martens store.

Next Month, Williams, 45, will debut Needs, a high-end men's clothing shop at 1410 N. Milwaukee Ave, in the same storefront where he started The Silver Room before moving a few doors north in 2005.

Hi all -

A woman news reports have referred to as Christine - though who has introduced herself to me as Cary-Beth - has been living under this underpass for at least a year. She was posted about last year: http://chicago.everyblock.com/kindness/apr22-homeless-woman-51st-st-and-lake-park-ave-6099675/ when she accepted medical assistance. Recently, I noticed last Thursday that she was no longer in the area, and in fact her sleeping bag was left empty. I checked with the gas station she goes for snacks at times and they had not seen her. By Sunday, the area was swept clean of all her belongings. Does anyone know if her family members took her in, if she was taken to the hospital or a shelter, or otherwise? I pass by her often and have often chatted with her since I live nearby. Would love to know if anyone has news.

  • To Anne - yes, I agree. I wonder if those were retrieved by friends or family of hers. If she ends up needing a new comforter/chair/grocery cart I would like to help out, but longer term I hope that the court situation that put her under the viaduct resolves itself and she finds a warmer place to stay.

The victim realized what had happened on Feb. 4 when he visited the bank, Scaduto said. Accounts were frozen on Feb. 6 and Borges was arrested at Chase, 7180 W. Grand Ave., on Tuesday.

Borges, of the 2800 block of North Mobile Avenue in Belmont Cragin, was charged with identity theft and financial exploitation of the elderly.

  • The cinder-stilt building is the the regional or national office for a particular religion, and while it may be the same brand as Arias church, it is run by someone else.

Look, maybe they know more than we do and being up on stilts prepares them for the next flood!

  • everyblockhp Looking to make hp a better place for everyone !

You may be right on that one !
But that pastor Arias should be supporting the elderly gentleman who went looking for help and instead had $70,000 stolen from his account by the pastors chaplain.
    very sad .
