Sad thing is, it's like this all over the city. On the souTH side, east side , west side and northside. When i was living over by keystone and cortland, my brothers had to be careful when they were walking north from wabansia cause of the MLD's and walking from Armitage south from the SD's and Cobras. If they tried to walk west you had the Latin Lovers and east you had the Gangster Disciples. Out south where my brother lives his sons can't wear certain colors because of all the diferent gangs surrounding them. It's so sad people gotta be weary of any place they go, and it's just getting worse.

So you really think that tens of thousands of cell phone signals passing through a cellular antenna cluster and the radio frequency waves can cause no harm to those in close proximity, forever, and amen?

I have been told that I had better stop using my cell phone. I have been told smart meters emit RF. And wireless routers. I have heard justification for more antennas being OK because there are already antennas are on schools.

We already have some exposure, so why not welcome more absolutely uncontrollable exposure through more antennas? We already have chosen and allowed some risk, why not welcome a greater amount of risk and exposure? You can't have it both ways. Either cell phones and radiation and cell towers are harmful or they are not.

There is no attempt to fool anyone. Most people I talk to think that these cannot be neutral and are probably bad for one's health especially in the long run.

What people are also concerned about is the negative effect it would have on their property values. I haven't heard anyone "debunk" that or the National Association of Realtors publications. I also haven't heard anyone "debunk" the Harvard Ethics study on wireless industry research, which shows what an incestuous business it is. It spends a couple hundred million a year lobbying politicians, and funds 70% of the research which has been conducted, and therefore it gets the results it wants.

Long-term health effects are very difficult to study, but I'm not going to wait around and see if my family and I become a statistic. They can move this thing a block west into the industrial area or into a different industrial area.

  • I just saw on Alderman Maldonado's facebook page, he put a hold on their building permit and promised a public meeting on the cell antennas.

Labor contracts only last for an agreed up period of time - and are then open for negotiation again.

The CTU may have agreed to increased pension in lieu of a raise for one contract period but that doesn't last forever. The labor contract between the CTU and the CPS includes what is agreed to for that contract and that contract period only. No more and no less.

Like any negotiations, reach and agreement or suffer the consequences.

  • So other than the accurate info on cakepops, if you are going to argue about why my property taxes are soaring now I would recommend you not forget about the other huge broke pensions in our beloved city.

There is very little appreciation or understanding as to what goes in to creating a business in the first place...the process doesn't begin in the alderman's office, and it sure doesn't begin with a desire by anyone other than those willing to take the risk and do the work.
