Let's see what happens with our police superintendent asking for more money, resources and officers to support; Springfield passing new laws; and Atty. Gen Jeff Sessions enacting new policies. Let's wait for the White House to intervene and even visit our city and even for the Pope and Cardinal to hold an anti-violence Mass downtown. Follow the developments to see if they reduce crime and make us law-abiding, hardworking and responsible residents safe and secure -- once and for all.

Sorry innocent people were injured but I am very happy to see the CPD Officers being aggressive against criminals again. Division and California is becoming a sewer again fast! Sunday most of all. After honoring a terrorist with a street sign there, bangers probably take it as a green to commit violent acts there!

Mich, I stand corrected, The T in Then, of my last sentence of my first post should have been a capitol. That mistake does make it appear that I was against this. Sorry to everyone reading my post. I am for these projects but not the politicians and there buddies who get rich off of them in the name of helping people in need. There is no question, I am not a spelling major.

  • This location falls into the parameters of the Aldermens new development taxing fees. How many units are proposed.? Times that by $150k for each unit. Another windfall for our current elected officials. WHAT ? This doesn't fall into the same category? I'm sure the Aldermen will find a way to profit from taxpayer funds.

Researcher Kiarri Kershaw, PhD is conducting a survey on how women use their environment, available resources, and each other to choose the foods they eat.  Access to healthy food is a public health issue, but previous research on whether or not improving access to healthy foods improves eating behaviors is mixed.  Our study will look at multiple factors that may influence eating behaviors to better understand how people make eating decisions.

At Spinning J, you can have your pie and eat it too

Something old, something new, something borrowed—seemingly, the only thing absent from Spinning J (1000 N. California Ave. 872-829-2793) in Humboldt Park is the “something blue.”

...when a friend of Grossman's gave them the heads up on a location at California Avenue and Augusta Boulevard where the landlord was looking to open an ice cream shop, and things just fell...

It's this combination that makes the modern soda fountain's environment so welcoming, but the conception and establishment of Spinning J was no overnight endeavor.

Team Hope

As an adult education instructor, many times my classes will present a “first time ever” experience to me.  Sometimes it’s things like – first time I raised my voice, first time NO ONE was prepared for their presentation, etc.  But with the Wood Products Manufacturing Class which graduated on May 5th, it was something positive: they were the first class ever to ALL speak at graduation.  Instead of choosing a couple representatives, this group showed their teamwork by giving everyone equal time!  And they did a magnificent job.
