Big Star Dropped Its Cash-Only Policy, But Many City Spots Are Holding Out
CHICAGO - Big Star might have ditched its cash-only policy, but the city still has a lot of holdouts. The restaurant made the big switch and started accepting credit cards because guests wanted the change, technology has advanced and Big Star needed to move forward with the neighborhood, said Kim Lyons, a spokeswoman for Big Star.

  • amazing how they have ATM's in their business...Wonder how much they get when a customer uses them? Most people NEVER carry cash anymore. Sign of the times....

  • Too many drunk bros ring up huge bills on their credit cards, then call the credit card company yo dispute the bill and the bar gets stiffed. I know a couple bars that stopped taking cards for this reason

With more people fleeing the city than staying...and our near junk bond status, and teachers unhappy and Cpd unhappy....our future is uncertain and batten down the hatches for tax increases. Heck we could even get burned neighborhoods like in the 60s if our race relations don't improve.

I love exposed brick and it proves the rehab was not just plaster board over old plaster and lathe. An old building made brand new. I think it is awesome.

I am pleased to see so many people here, concerned with the safety and wellbeing of the neighborhood. However, "the neighborhood" includes all the law-abiding residents.

It is a waste of everyone's time to struggle to blame one specific segment of the population, whether it's a racial or economic demographic, or regional politicians or police. Seriously, think for a minute: is there anyone here who really wants an increase in shootings? We'll leave out anyone who wants to kill for the pleasure of killing, or for any infantile racist excuse.

Everybody is pissed off. We want to accuse someone specific. But we're in a city with millions of people, in a state, in a nation. We've got to cooperate. How about more inclusive suggestions to solve the city's violence problems?

FYI there is a troll here on EveryBlock who I'm not even going to name, who delights in making ridiculous, racist and misinformed comments on every other comment. Anybody who is proud to be the "Archie Bunker of EB" isn't worth considering, any more than any other internet troll.

Hope so--it was okay shopping next to the armory but I had to give up performing there-- too far to walk with instruments & equipment, no safe free parking w/in line of sight while I play. The Norwood location is right around the corner from me--so could just make a couple of trips through the alley with my stuff while others watched it, or I could park in the Patio lot and keep an eye on my purse locked in the car while I played. Since my surgery last fall, proximity is even more important.
