Chicago homeowners can apply for a City of Chicago rebate

Beginning October 1, 2016, eligible Chicago homeowners can apply for a City of Chicago rebate at any of the 26 neighborhood locations, including City Hall.  Homeowners with a household income of $75,000 or less must apply for the rebate in person. While the rebate does not goes as far as I would like, the program uses a formula based off my original proposal to determine eligibility for Chicago's families.

evergreener, yes due to years of hard work, the community and police together changed that area! It is no longer the OLD Twilight Zone but it is changing into the NEW Twilight Zone, with all the sanctioned illegal activity in the park and the gang shootings and now killings that it attracts! You can't stop the shootings and killings until you stop the activity that attracts gang bangerrs to the area to shoot and kill each other. Most of the gang bangers have moved away! They do not live here any longer! They are now returning because they learned they can get away with many minor crimes because some neighbors think they have the right to do so. Hell, Charlie screamed it racist and against the PR community to video and call the police about these very crimes happening in the park?!?! Then he promotes a peace march but does not invite anyone from EB?!?!? I think the East side of the park has problems that it has made for itself. You must admit, the East side has way more violence than the West side going on right now. We worked together to make our neighborhood safe and continue to do so. I even yelled at Police Officers as a guy on a ATV drove down Division right in front of them and they actually wrote the guy a ticket! Good luck with doing the same on your side my friend.

  • Patrick, are you protesting? Where are you? Why are you leaving it up to others if you yourself are outraged?

Roger, in response to you caling Glenn Danzig racist, did you check out the murals of convicted felon Oscar Lopez on the Paseo? He's serving time for conspiracy because the Feds got him on a lesser charge. He probably would have been killed in prison if convicted of all the bombings and indiscriminate killing he was a part of during his time as a leader of FALN. Rot in peace.

Or, did you check out the mural of the Puerto Rican shoot-'em-up crew on the wall next to Rangoli? Lolita Lebron on the cross. A martyr. A saint. She shot innocent Congressman while they were debating immigration reform. Real nice hero, boss.

These two murals, while some consider them sacred, are either misunderstood or ignored by most, but some are deeply offended by acts of terrorism, including attacks on a president (look up Blair House 1950's) being promoted. What Danzig may be to you, these murals are a million times more offensive.

A philosophy, or a phase that someone goes through, is different than carrying out those acts physically, at least in the eyes of the law.

I am not aware of any shootings, bombings or killings for which Glenn Danzig is responsible.

Wish we could all get along for 3 days, but for some, this is no walk in the park. It has to be something else.

We can all find things to criticize. Why not a little love thy neighbor as thyself?

Now, back to Husker Du no wrong...

  • I guess they removed Roger's comment prior to mine calling GD a nahtzi.

  • ...there is only one tree on the block.... there no trees in the artists rendering either.

$18 million to build 25 units? that is $720,000 per unit - and they said most of them would be for single adults ie studios or one bedrooms.

Gee, I wonder where the money is going??????

So Tamara - what do you suggest we do about this?

"I am not happy with the Madigan machine nor his supporters. And I am totally aware that past Democrat leadership have to claim responsibility for the mess that we are in."

What do we do about that? If your answer is to vote them out, then my complaint is with a) dems who will vote dem no matter what just to keep the GOP out, and b) redistricting has worked wonders to keep politicians in place in IL (on both sides, but let's be honest - the legislature has been dem for decades now).

I think several of Rauner's stances suck and are way too conservative. But he is the only one supporting term limits and redistricting, which I don't understand arguing against.

I completely understand a lot of your complaints about Rauner. But you're ONLY hammering him. To answer my own question to you, along with redistricting (which Madigan won't agree to) and term limits (which Madigan won't agree to), someone has to stand up to his machine. If IL were a business, he would personally, by far, be the primary cause of our bankruptcy. And you are putting Rauner on blast?

You say both are at fault, but it's Rauner's responsibility to budget. How else would you like him to stand up to Madigan, and stop the status quo, other than being the rock to his hard place? To not primarily blame Madigan for 90% of the mess we are in, which is the cause of human services not being funded and consistent downward trends until the income tax was raised? To not blame Rauner and Madigan equally for continuing it since? To me, it shows you are biased. I am NOT a Rauner fan, but a blind man can see that nothing will change without defeating Madigan. To argue that Madigan somehow is for the little guy here, come on. He knows exactly what he is doing and is just as much of a hostage taker.

Totally with you on the ganja, tho :) It's big money, and pot can't be any easier to get than it already is.
