Walmart is coming to Cicero/Diversey area?

Permit issued for renovation/alteration

Issue date April 5, 2012

.Estimated value $7,000,000
Application number 100433398
Work type Renovation / alteration

A reconfiguration of a building's interior or exterior. WALMART SUPERCENTER 4600 WEST DIVERSEY- EXISTING BUILDING REMODEL AND LOWER PARKING GARAGE- 116,720 SQUARE FEET-4600 WEST DIVERSEY .

I haven't gotten anything from the alderman about it. There is already a Walmart less than a mile south of here at Grand and Cicero. A comunity meeting would be nice to have on this. Traffic between Cicero and Kostener along Diversey is horrible as is.

I find it interesting that the people for this proposition include in their reasons how terrible the Wal-Mart on "Grand & Cicero" is (which is not the location) & the assumption that the one in The Hall would be any better. Lower prices always come at a high cost to someone.

Wal-Mart is not the direction the area should be leaning in. How will Big Lots compete? Discovery? Mattress joint? Aldi, even? Are the job losses in these businesses softened by the fact that they can try to work for Wal-Mart & hope for the best? It's easy to forget how the "mall" on North & Cicero dramatically shifted to closings after Wal-Mart opened in the area.

  • Jenn Henn Tell me everything.

Why so close to the WalMart on North Ave and Cicero?...

Is there a new "don't have to stop at stop signs or signal for turns law"

What is going on lately. It seems no one is even slowing down, let alone, stopping at stop signs on the side streets and no one is signaling their intention to turn. It is getting worse and very dangerous.

A group of Teens are going on a Service Retreat Mission trip to New Orleans, Louisiana this June to help with the Young and the Poor alongside the Salesians of Don Bosco

I had the privilege of going on this mission trip twice last year as a participant and now going back as a Young Team member.
In June I was on a team who helped clean out an old school building which hadn't been used since Katrina. In December I was able to help with the restructuring of burial sites at Holt Cemetery as well as assist at the local Pregnancy Center in sorting supplies

This mission team is in need of sponsors from the neighborhood!
5 Young missionaries from St. John Bosco Parish are hoping to be able to go on the mission trip. With your help they can do just that!

Funds needed: $3,386

Thank you!!
Peace and Blessings
If you can sponsor a young missionary Please contact me or St. John Bosco Parish!

LOST DOG

My childhood dog went missing on Friday, April 6th.from the FULLERTON AND CICERO area. She was in our yard as usual but when we went to call her in, she was no where to be found. We have had her since she was a puppy (about 10 years) and miss her very very much.
She is a cocker spaniel, golden blonde hair and short floppy ears.
We are worried she may have been taken for dog fighting.
PLEASE respond with any information if you have seen her any where in the neighborhood.

  • Bryan Galewood.net

I noticed a "FOUND DOG" sign on a telephone pole on the southeast corner of Lovett School (Mobile/Wabansia) this morning.

No idea what kind of dog was found, and that's kinda far from Fullerton/Cicero, so it's a long shot but if you think she might have gone that far, maybe it's worth checking out?

  • Heather C. Dog Lover

Be sure to post about your dog to Lost Dogs Illinois on Facebook and check Chicago Animal Care & Control, Animal Welfare League and the Humane Society to see if she just wandered out of the yard and someone thought she was stray/lost. I hope for a safe return.

  • we believe that she has been found by a neighbor down the street. Thank you to those who responded
