Alderman Anthony Beale's plans for 9th Ward Roseland

Does anyone know of any plans for the Roseland community? I drive around and see nothing but senior housing going up. The lot at 115th State has been torn apart a year ago yet nothing has been done to it, where's the Aldi and why do we need another when there's one just a mile west? There's nothing more than urban wear and hair supply stores on Michigan than blend quite well with the storefronts that are closed; such as...

There's nothing more than urban wear and hair supply stores on Michigan than blend quite well with the storefronts that are closed; such as the former Rent-a-Center lot on 115th Michigan behind Curtis School. Lastly, how many more churches can one ward have, like we haven't lost enough tax revenue in our community already? have Can anyone share any information on ANY worthwhile project in the 9th ward???? I'm lost here...

So after reading this article from several months ago, I'd like to respond to the question "Will Beale be around in 2015?"

Didn't realize I had two accounts on EB, although I'm ready to cancel them both due to the new changes here. Anyhoo, I was reading an article today that stated Ald Beale's daughter got accepted to Whitney Young Magnet school only after he made phone calls to the principal....This just gets deeper. How dare these politicians slap their constituents in the face the way they do and have nerve to get upset when people don't come out to vote.

I know that family members of politicians always seem to get the best jobs making the higher wages, but must they also sneak into schools, have more than one government income and on top of all that...STILL DO NOTHING FOR THE COMMUNITY?

well, I don't know what to discuss exactly, but as of now I don't like the way this is going, with having to "reveal" a message that got lots of NoThanks. Like mine from the infamous "Leashless..." thread. I got notified for 3 comments there, resulting in it being necessary to hit "reveal" to see the text

The emails I rec'd from EB:
Because this comment got so many "no thanks," we've hidden it by default and replaced it with a message saying it was removed.

Going forward, please help us continue to make EveryBlock an informative, helpful and friendly community by making sure your comments fall within our guidelines.
    &
We wanted you to know that a bunch of EveryBlock users have said "no thanks" to this comment that you posted:

@ScottK I'm pretty sure no one's really disagreeing that it's a reasonable if not good law. I didn't ask about the law; if your condescending suggestion about the law being "hard to understand" was in response to my comments just preceding it, all I can is it was out of place and not very becoming of you.

It is clear to me that you have zero tolerance for ANY dog to be off leash in ANY situation other than a place where it is expressly permitted by law. Fine, totally cool & I respect that. Is it because it's a law & you have zero tolerance for ignoring ALL laws, or is it just that you feel strongly about this one with an emphasis on the too ANYs that I specified?

Maybe what I wrote wasn't particularly neighborly, but it isn't out of EB's guidelines, I don't think.

The city has got to make it work re: AFFORDABLE HOUSING. Every neighborhood has to have its fair share.

So you know what happens when 12 pounds of crap are put into a 10 pound bag? It is called "doin' the Cabrini." It doesn't work.

There must be a way of separating the good from the bad, and when you stick hundreds of people into a mini-Cabrini, it is VERY difficult to source the problem, causing affected neighbors to put ALL the residents of the building in the same category, thereby promoting and encouraging conflict.

In a 67 unit building, there may only be 3 units housing egregious law-breakers. These 3 are the standard by which most of the community residents will judge the entire development.

In my opinion, the city is engaging in rampant and unchallenged discrimination, in violation of the Federal Fair Housing Act.

All neighborhoods have a Federal mandate to accept and encourage AFFORDABLE HOUSING, not just the West side.

I for one will not stand by and watch my neighborhood be martyred for no good reason.

If one part of your body is sick, you get it treated or it infects the rest of the body.

Chicago has a chance to deal with the problems on the West side (I don't have any personal experience on the South side, but maybe this applies) while matters are greatly concentrated. Otherwise, the problems will continue to spread, and the flash mobs, group muggings and organized crime movement and accompanying violence that swept downtown last summer will get better organized and the disease will spread.

There's not much left to steal over here. The gang bangers need to opress better targets and heist better goods. That means all points North and East.

We ALL need to keep watch over our city, regardless of where we live. You remember, United We Stand...
