Urine Trouble: What Chicago Streets Run Yellow Because People Need to Pee
Maybe Cubs games have gotten so exciting that fans can't hold it until they get home. Maybe it's all those overflowing urinals at Wrigley Field from earlier in the season. Or maybe it's more proof of that old saying: You don't buy beer; you rent it.

  • Metra has bathrooms.

  • METRA has far fewer stops, and usually, fewer people riding for longer distances. You often have a 2 hour trip. The Red Line, on the other hand, hauls north of 300,000 people a day, and has many more stops. METRA doesn't suffer the vandalism and filth that CTA passengers inflict on the system, either.

Public Urination Hot Spots Puddle Near CTA Train Stops, Bar Districts (MAP)

In Englewood, Preston Higgins told me he knew all too well that the alley between the CTA Green Line stop and the convenience store where you can get a can of beer for two bucks at 6316 S. Ashland doubles as an unofficial public toilet.

Police officers wrote 59 public urination tickets in the alley east of the L tracks at 22 E. Roosevelt Road netting $18,400 in fines.

In the last two years, police wrote 30 tickets raking in $5,760 in fines at 1514 N. Milwaukee.

Anderson said the nearby public peeing probably happens about as frequently as it did in the alley behind City Sole’s last location at the crossroads of North, Milwaukee and Damen, a six-corner intersection some locals call “The Crotch."

...for 40 cents, a friendly fellow wearing a Superman T-shirt at the corner of 79th and Exchange — steps away from a Metra train station — offered up his opinion on why so many...

• At 14 W. 95th Street, the closest alley to the southernmost Red Line stop, police issued 45 public urination tickets.

• Steps away from the Wilson Red Line Stop at 1107 W. Wilson, police wrote 25 tickets that racked up $8,850 in fines.

The 49 public-urination tickets at that police officer have issued at 4612 W 50th Street — where the Orange Line makes its final stop at Midway Airport — offer further evidence that...

CHICAGO - Certain corners of Chicago attract people who, well, just can't contain themselves. And that's where Chicago police write the most public urination tickets. You probably could sniff out these spots yourself.
