Three Dead, Several Wounded In Chicago Shootings So Far This Weekend

A 20-year-old man was shot in the Englewood neighborhood at 9:40 p.m. in the 6500 block of South Laflin. He was shot in the hand and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

The 26-year-old was on the street in the 7700 block of South Sangamon at 10 p.m. when a man shot him in the head, according to Chicago Police. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The 23-year-old was shot in the chest about 9 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Harding, according to Chicago Police. He was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

A 25-year-old man was shot in the head about 4:30 p.m. in the 5000 block of South Elizabeth, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A male, whose exact age was not immediately known, was shot in his side in the 4700 block of West Monroe about 4:47 a.m., police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said.

A 30-year-old man was getting out of a vehicle in the 5900 block of South Albany in Chicago Lawn about 2 a.m. when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside shouted gang slogans before shooting him, police said.

A 16-year-old boy and 22-year-old woman were in the 700 block of South Spaulding about 12:40 a.m. when they were shot by someone in a passing gray van, police said.

A minute earlier, a 25-year-old man who was shot in the head in West Town about 9:39 p.m. was in critical condition at Mount Sinai Hospital after a shooting in the 2600 block of West Potomac, police said.

A 25-year-old man was shot 9 p.m. in the 4900 block of Kamerling, police said. The shooter walked up to the victim on foot and fired, hitting him in both legs, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

The first person wounded Friday was shot about in the leg 6:50 p.m. in the 9100 block of South Emerald, police said. The 26-year-old man was taken to Christ Medical Center where his condition was stabilized.

The men, ages 26 and 27, were outside in the 200 block of West Garfield about 8:45 p.m. when two gunmen walked up to them and opened fire before running away, police said.

A 27-year-old man was outside in the 8900 block of South Brandon about 9:35 p.m. when two gunmen got out of a car, walked up and opened fire, striking the man repeatedly, before they drove off, police said.

The boy was on a porch in the 8800 block of South Princeton at 1:30 a.m. when three males shot him in the head, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition.

Man Charged With Fatal March Shooting In Englewood

Kenneth Renaldo Brown, 31, was standing outside with a group of people in the 7000 block of South Morgan about 11:30 p.m. when several males walked up and someone opened fire, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Harris, of the 6800 block of South Sangamon, was ordered held without bond Saturday, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office. He was next scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Brown, of the 6000 block of South Paulina, suffered gunshot wounds to the eye, right arm and neck and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:21 a.m. March 16, according to the medical examiner’s office.

4 dead, 26 wounded in shootings citywide

At 4:42 a.m. Sunday, a 19-year-old man was shot in Englewood. He was in the 1400 block of West 71st Street when he was shot in the leg. He went to Holy Cross Hospital, and his condition was stabilized.

The Morgan Park attack occurred at 11:43 a.m. Saturday in the 1400 block of West 114th Place, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.

The man, 20, was in the 5800 block of South Maplewood Avenue when he suffered multiple gunshot wounds, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

At 1:30 a.m. Sunday, an attack in East Garfield Park left a man dead and two women wounded. Witnesses said they were outside attending a birthday party in the 700 block of North Ridgeway Avenue when someone began shooting.

She was near the curb, on the corner of Ridgeway and Huron, when she heard the shots coming from the north and east. "Next thing I know, everybody's throwing their drinks and running," she said. "I threw my drink too."

Another man was killed about 5:10 a.m. Sunday in South Austin, police said. He was found in the driver's seat of a car in the 900 block of North Massasoit Avenue with gunshot wounds to the chest. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Police estimate that he was in his 30s.

At 5 a.m., a 28-year-old woman was shot in East Garfield Park. She was a passenger in a car in the 3500 block of West Walnut Street when she heard gunfire and realized she had been shot in the back. She was driven to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was listed in good condition.

At 3:15 a.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in West Town. He walked in to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right leg and told investigators he was shot by someone in a black car on the 400 block of North Western Avenue. His condition was stabilized.

At 2 a.m., a 29-year-old man was shot in Pilsen. He got himself to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg and told police he had been shot in the 1800 block of South Blue Island Avenue. His condition was stabilized.

At 1:20 a.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot in Lawndale. He was in the 2700 block of West Polk Street when someone in a Dodge Charger fired shots, hitting him multiple times. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, and his condition was stabilized.

At 1:10 a.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in the Homan Square neighborhood. He was on a porch in the 3500 block of West Lexington Street when he was shot in the back. He went to Mount Sinai Hospital, and his condition was stabilized.

At 11:30 p.m. Saturday, an 18-year-old man was shot in the Brainerd neighborhood. He was in the 9000 block of South Bishop Street when someone shot him in the leg. Information was not immediately available about where he was being treated. 

At 11:10 p.m., a 25-year-old woman was shot in Lawndale. She was in the 3400 block of West Ogden Avenue when someone shot her in the leg from a passing vehicle. She went to Advocate Christ Medical Center, and her condition was stabilized.

At 9:45 p.m., a 39-year-old man was shot in South Chicago. He was entering a residence in the 8600 block of South Marquette Avenue when someone fired shots and he was hit in the leg. He went to Advocate Christ Medical Center, and his condition was stabilized.

At 9 p.m., a 39-year-old man was shot in the Rosemoor neighborhood. He was in the 10600 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue when he was shot in the right arm. He got himself to Roseland Community Hospital, and his condition was stabilized.

About 11:25 a.m., a 25-year-old man was shot in the left hip and left thigh in the 5900 block of South Troy Street in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood, Estrada said. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was in good condition.
