Community Mural Project

City Incite's young adults completed a community mural project over the summer to inspire positivity throughout the community. The project was a partnership with Imagine Englewood IF and sponsored by DFSS! One of the murals can be found in the community garden at Nicholson Technology Academy and the other two can be found at Paul Robeson High School in the lunch room!

Outside of the church, a 28-year-old man lay critically injured on the sidewalk in the 4100 block of West 16th Street on the West Side, one of at least three victims of shootings and a stabbing on the South and West sides of the city. The man later died, according to police.

He was identified as Charles Labon, of the 1900 block of South St. Louis Avenue, according to the medical examiner.

No bail for teen accused of sexually assaulting CSU student

Cook County Judge Peggy Chiampas said “that, and that alone,” justified holding Parks without bail. He was charged as an adult with aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated kidnapping and armed robbery. Police arrested him Friday night in the 7300 block of South Laflin, records show.

Shootings leave several injured on South, West Sides

This first shooting happened at 11:35 a.m. Sunday on the 6900 block of South Eggleston Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada.

The man told officials that he was on the 1800 block of South Hamlin Avenue in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side when he was shot in the left hand, Estrada said. The man was in good condition, police said.

The most serious shooting happened at 1:50 p.m. on the 4100 block of West 16th Street in Lawndale, Estrada said.

Teen shot in Englewood

A teenage boy was shot in Englewood late Sunday morning. The boy, 17, was in the 6900 block of South Eggleston at 11:35 a.m. when he was shot in the ankle, police said. He was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital in good condition, police said.
