Help 5150 Northwest Hwy Meet Community Needs

The plan may not be perfect yet, and we hope there is room for discussion and improvement. By signing, we indicate our support for responsible development of the property at 5150 N. Northwest Highway, Chicago, as a mixed income residential property, targeted to veterans. This property is currently designed to meet several needs, primarily a shortage of affordable, transit-oriented rental properties in Jefferson Park (and Chicago as a whole). The developer intends to have amenities and resources for its residents including onsite social services.

  • SecondCitySavvy New to Edgebrook

I did not and I'm not sure I would have taken advantage of it had I known about it. But maybe I could have avoided working a second job had this been an option for me. Normal rents are also significantly higher than they were when I first moved here as a result of the market crash.

  • I guess this is really about criminals. Some people seem to have a certain tolerance for them and others don't. I, myself, hate criminals - I don't care what color they are or how old they are. They make me sick and make our life on earth a living hell!

Tony & Millie's Italian Ice Bar Readying Year-Round Edison Park Shop

From a 1,200 square-foot storefront attached to the Edison Park Inn, 6709 N. Olmsted Avenue, owner John Geslicki and his family will sell gelato, Italian ice, and, for the first time this year, bags of coffee grounds.

This article has 1 other Chicago location (Show)

After decades of trips to Mario's Italian Lemonade, 1066 W. Taylor St., Geslicki was itching to bring the frozen treat back to his native Northwest Side, he said.

Jefferson Park Problem

Just read in DNA info: Ald. Arena of Jefferson Park is ok with the construction of an 80 unit building which will rent at lower than the going rate in the area and will have at least 20 apartments rented to CHA voucher eligible individuals. There goes the neighborhood.

In regards to the increased crime in District 16

Yes, our officers have been pulled from our district. Although we pay higher taxes than the district where our officers have been sent. And that is not fair for our district. Also a few months ago CBS, channel 2, news not only let the viewing area know that district 16 is low on police officers they also put a map and highlighted the whole district for all of the criminals to see. So disgusted with the lack of protection and the amount of criminal activities in our neighborhood. Tired of having to lock all the locks on her doors while we're sitting in our own home !

  • Natmart live in the neighborhood for 16 years.

With the property tax bill just arriving, and the huge increase yet again. What are our taxes going to? Our streets are bad, schools are not the best and we have an increase of crime. Tired of our taxes padding politicians pockets

  • How about the ridiculous bag tax that went into effect last week. Where's that money going?
