Trying to get a hold of Alderman to keep Lyft and uber

Napolitano is going to support an ordinance that will force Lyft and uber to leave Chicago tomorrow. Who else is going to drop by his office today and leave a note? I don't want to go with taxis again, it takes hours to get downtown by public from here.

I've got his email too ward41@cityofchicago.org

  • GoHawks! Life Long Resident

    Guys-
Am I missing something here? This vote is not to keep or get rid of either service, it is a vote on an ordinance to regulate the service?
I like and use the service but I would like that service to be regulated for my family, neighbor's, community and country- I guess I wouldn't mind seeing a safe service and one that would probably benefit the service as a whole with the good PR they would get from this-

  • nealtse Blah

The ordinance is such that Uber and Lyft would leave as they have directly said they would, because the ordinance would break their business model by stifling the number of drivers on the road. Who have already been through background checks.

If they stayed we'd be looking at surge all the time and 20 minute wait times.

Vandalism

Has anyone else in Edison Park experienced vandalism the past two nights? I have had one of my white vinyl fence panels busted apart two nights in a row. I had this happen about 10 years ago repeatedly over an entire summer, but that group of loser kids must have grown up and moved on. I am now looking for ways to prevent and deter future incidents. But I would really like these kids to be caught and punished and their parents can buy me a new vandal proof fence. For those kids sakes, that would be the best outcome.

  • Haven't seen any similar activity in my neighborhood: old norwood.harlem&peterson

Camera's. It's unfortunate, but glad I bought them. Arlo is the brand I have (wireless, base connected to my xfinity box). If only 2 camera's, free on-line surveillance, alerts, and control/view from your phone. They record activity based on the duration/distance that you set. Batteries are expensive, order on Amazon.
