That sucks. Did you have 'where's my droid' or 'android lost' on there? I'm sure you had something, and probably called it a lot. Trying to think of another way you can track it. Was your provider, Tmobile? able to track/ping it?

Recycling
What is the reason behind not having blue recycle cans in Edison Park and surrounding areas? We lived in Garfield Ridge for a few years and had them there.... this is a much nicer area, higher taxes, etc, etc... so what is behind this decision...? I know the Everyblock people can enlighten me! Thanks.

Dog Park
The dog park will be relocated to the northeast section of the park and be enlarged to about 10,500 sq ft.
Work to start in June taking about 6 wks to complete.
There will also be other improvements made to the parks plumbing, etc. and other minor improvements made to other community parks as part of this effort.
Existing dog park will remain open during transition.
The existing location can be returned back to its prior use for ice-skating.
Several residents asked some general questions about the design, hours, drainage issues etc. The alderman, gent 1 and gent 2 answered.
State Rep. spoke very briefly, comments not substantial, other than implying he had something to do with obtaining funding.
Res 1: Was a park usage survey done before decisions made regarding the dog park?
As she believes it’s required residents within a 5-block radius be surveyed prior to usage changes.
Alderman O’Conner: No it hadn’t (not sounding sure) and the dog park was put in motion prior to me taking office.
Res 1 pursued the issue and the Alderman stated that it wasn’t an issue for a public forum, they could discuss privately.
Overall the audience favored dog park relocation and improvements.

I was reading the post above about all the probs w/ the dog park. I only go occassionally but everyone I meet there is from the hood so I don't know why it keeps being said ppl don't live in the area. (So what, I have gone to Wicker Dog Park, we are all Chicagoians)
I drive and walk by several times a week and at different times, and I have never seen anyone parked in the crosswalks. The hours are honored because they lock it , but I think there should be no hours, as long as the park is open.
It never looks dirty from the inside or outside when I walk by. So it is cleaned by the ppl who care about it.
Dogs have been running around that area long before any park was officially built and there was no formal concern that anyone was citing at any time. No one is going to get hurt for any reason that is related to the dog park. The same ppl with dogs have been driving and parking and walking in that area for DECADES!

Edison Park Garden Club
Would anyone be interested in putting together an EP Garden Club, with the idea to eventually hold garden walks like several other great city neighborhoods?
I'm newer to the neighborhood but I'm excited to see that obviously there are a lot of avid gardeners!

Hi Amy,
Welcome to the neighborhood! I would like to get involved with a garden club, to meet new people, and get ideas and advise on my gardens. I can't say anyone would be that intersted to see my garden, but I'm in! Let me know how it goes! -
OParker Native ChicagoanAmy,
I'm not a gardener however I admire your community spirit. -
Definitely interested have been looking for a group for a while.
We are always in need of others advice and help. Hope we start this year.

General Home Remodel and Kitchen Remodel
Hi;
Typically I used Angie's List and Yelp but thought I would ask here as well, for recommendations on General Contractors/Home remodeling..
Also, I noticed there are several nice looking Kitchen Build/Remodel companies in the area but can any of you personally recommend one vs the other? We'd like to spend our money in the neighborhood when the time comes..
Thanks!

Citywide staff pick
From Is it only me? Confusion on NATO and staying home in the Loop during the Summit:
"We would appreciate anyone with some sound advice to please share what they might know as far as safely staying in condo at Madison & State. We were planning to stock up on food and stay in. Does this sound okay to do? Sarcasm & judgement not welcome please."

RE: City-wide Recycling Program- The mayor's office recently wrapped up a competitive bidding process. Every household in the city will have curbside recycling by 2013. I work for Alderman Mary O'Connor in the 41st Ward
Appreciate the good news. Thank You.
