HB 1739 is an ill conceived gambling bill with no community benefits agreement in place to end joblessness and monitor corruption if passed. B. Rita Chief Sponsor should redo this legislation. HB 5395 is also ill conceived only M. Davis and B. Rita stand to gain an economic benefit from its passage and violates the Public Official Ethics Act.

The HB 5395 Allows outside security forces to evict Homeowners and Tenants who are fighting Bank Fraud that is taking tax dollars away from Cook County. Removal of the winter eviction clause is not sufficient. The Sheriff of Cook County does the job legally and must remain as chief law enforcement personnel to avoid civil rights litigation as Chicago is the only target of this bill. Enough is enough! Our state officials should be working on job creation bills, and pension reform not self enrichment. Call your state representative of your district today and oppose both bills.

Summer help

I am wondering if there is any pool of resources for young people who are going to be out of school soon and would like to earn a little money helping out with gardening and household chores. I do not have children and do not know resources available for reliable teens or Tweens.

  • Contact local boy scout troop usually at a church.

  • CeCe Edwards Grand Crossing Park Advisory Council

Contact local churches in the area that may have youth funds for this purpose.

Rodent at Target

While at Target at 8560 S Cottage Grove today (4/8/14 6 pm), I saw a mouse run out of aisle 25 and under a cooler.:-(

  • Maria G 50 year Chatham Resident

I have contacted Target for various reasons. They are slow to respond, if at all. However, I still shop there, as well as Walmart, Walgreen's, Pete's Produce and Chatham foods. Supporting the community is a must!
You are correct when you state "sometimes individuals have motives" and make questionable posts on social media. Thankfully I am not one to act in such a manner.

thank you for your report. As customers we need to know if there is a problem. Personally shop at the Target on 119th due to indifferent service and upkeep of the Target at 87th Wondered how long the management would keep up the store. The management at 119th should retrain staff at 87th. You would see a great improvement in cleanliness and service and store upkeep. Just want to be treated as if my dollars do matter. Not suspicious of your motives either. You just voicing your concerns. Each need to be weighed not dissected. Call the Dept..of Public Health. There is food in the store.
