@Juan I do stay in touch with both Alderwomen and attend more than a fair share of CAPS meetings; however the police leadership hardly ever shows up, and I live right in their HQ's beat. They simply don't seem to care about the way of life of 35th St. I agree with you 100% about the Cook County court system being way too soft on crime. Repeat offenders are responsible for a significant amount of violence on the streets and most arrested have extended rap sheets. McCarthy certainly wasn't the best superintendent, but he was spot on about the soft sentencing of violent offenders at 26th & Cal adding to the mayhem in our communities. We need to mobilize our efforts--Black Lives Matter especially included--at getting tougher on violent and repeat offenders who are out to do nothing but cause fear and bloodshed. Parents of violent youth must be held accountable too.

Mitchell: Fingerprinting Uber, Lyft drivers would discriminate
Oh, how I used to love the jitney. I'd hop on it at 39th and King Drive and hop off at 29th for about 15 cents. I didn't care if the jitney driver had a criminal past or had just finished off a pint of Wild Irish Rose.

We need to bring the Jitney`s back on Martin Luther King Drive, as a revenue generating opportunity for formally incarserated African Americans living in the historic Bronzeville community

  • Bronzeville Curmudgeon Bronzeville Conservator

After he or she gets off work driving the Jitney up and done King Drive for several hours, and making some legitimate money! I don`t see nothing wrong with buying and enjoying a chilled pint of Wild Irish Rose, as an authentic after work drink of preference of many low end inhabitants!!! :-)
