    Mr. A West Woodlawn

You know that geographic sections of West Woodlawn are within the historical boundaries of Bronzeville ie the Black Metropolis National Heritage Area! :-)

  • Never heard that before. I know that before West Woodlawn was known as the Washington park subdivision and was the home Loraine Hansberry and setting for Raisin. The Southside renaissance should include diversity in the neighborhoods. Black,White, Latin, Chinese, all living on the same block regardless of income level. Concentrated poverty does not work, we know this.

The deeper question for African-American voters in Chicago is, what can you boast about that Mayor Rahm Emanuel has done, that has benefited you directly in the past 4 years?

President Obama, Mayor Emanuel visit Ald. Will Burns’ Hyde Park campaign office

Last Thursday President Barack Obama and Mayor Emanuel visited Ald. Will Burns’ campaign office, 900 E. 47th St.

  • Jeffrey Booker 40 years in Chicago; the city does not work well.

I am glad I got over the Obama delusion a long time ago. Either Will Burns is a phenomenal alderman, worthy of presidential praise or the president is a hollow figurehead with very little power, other than symbolic.

  • FGFM What the Cappleman!

He's just working the room, bro.

  • Jeffrey Booker 40 years in Chicago; the city does not work well.

Rahm must be desperate as well. A low voter turn out is what he needs to win. I don't think many nonvoters will be inspired by the president praising the person that has done very little to improve their plight. This is a sad commentary on the state of our democracy when the rulers maintain power because the majority of people are so disenfranchised that they see no hope in political engagement.

Bronzeville Residents Slam CHA For Giving Public Housing Land To Mariano’s

  • Happy making better choices

Renters have authority just not as much. That is a benefit of owning. There is nothing out of order or unreasonable about that. That is one of many reasons ppl seek ownership. The strongest authority is when renters and owners come together to unite towards common goals. A grocery store built on an empty lot with plenty of space remaining shouldn't be an issue but high 5 towards addressing the need for more fresh food options.

  • In regards to JRW,
I was as proud of those kids as anyone and I still am. However, if rules were violated by parents and coaches to stack their team with players from outside the district, there should be consequences! I don't see it as a racial issue. If the kids from Vegas would have won and were guilty of similar, they would have been sanctioned in a similar fashion I hope?! It is a shame but the managers and parents associated with JRW should have known better!
