Garage Break in by minors
I caught 5 minors who are between the ages of 11-13, neighborhood children breaking into this asian man's garage, I called 911, and recorded the kids prying open the garage, when the police came, the officer said, they didn't catch them in the act and can't do anything about it? I said I have video of them and can point out where they live. The asian family did not speak good english, so they could not say what was missing.....

Why is it that the police are not helpful in my part of the neighbor hood, I am not sure if I am 8th or 9th. I have heard other stories from neighbors about the officer blowing them off.. I understand there are other crimes going on, but I call for a reason.. this is definitely an issue I am bring up at the caps meeting.

3 illegal aliens charged with attacking Police Officers after birthday party celebration
Three men, including two members of a Mexican musical group that had just finished performing — were charged with felonies after a late-night birthday celebration in an Hermosa neighborhood residential garage became violent.
A Mexican ranchera trio had been performing in a garage in the 4700 block of West McLean Avenue when police arrived at 2:40 a.m. May 12 to investigate a noise complaint.
As officers approached, one was allegedly punched in the face and tackled by two men, Lino Sarabia-Martinez, 24, and Antonio Villa, 43, both residents of the home.
they tried to unholster the officer’s handgun during a struggle, prosecutors said. When the officer fell to the ground, his baton was taken and used to hit him twice in the head, according. Another officer used a taser on one of the men.
A third man, Federico Villa-Martinez, 35, also listed as a resident of the home, allegedly threw a bottle at a police officer before punching him in the nose.A police officer was taken to a nearby hospital and given three staples in his head to close a gash and treated for various abrasions, according to court records.

CAPS MEETING
From a what I've learned, attending CAPS meeting has been making a little difference on block? I guess because it's documented more than a 911 phone call.. after reading different neighbors postings, I see they attend the meetings as well.. does anyone else think that the meetings are useful, I have had problems with NOISE Ordinance and kids destroying my property (neighbors having bands, djs, big parties in a small yard that run till 5 am, kids vandalizing other property,...

Hi I want to say I have found CAPS meetings so VERY helpful and very informative and Educational as well. I started in CAPS several years ago with an issue. I have become more involved as the years have gone on. We in 813/833 are blessed with the best Facilitator in the whole CAPS program She is so proactive and has helped so many people. I have seen the involvement form officers become more proactive over the years. So I have to say the answer is Yes do attend your beat meetings, make those calls, and if your schedule allows become a court advocate even if you can only go once in awhile. If you follow these steps you will see the results. Now it will not happen over night and maybe not even in a couple of weeks but stick with it you will see how great community policing can be.

Residential Parking Permits
Whether a person lives on the block or doesn't if they got permission from the alderman to get a parking sticker it is nobody's business but the alderman and the resident. Please there is someone on the block where we park who has taken onto themselves to be the parking police and a name caller in writing. But we aren't going to let that ruin our day. My daughter graduated from college today. It's a happy day!!!!

Residential Parking
The purpose of residential zone parking is to limit parking on designated streets in densely-populated or highly-trafficked areas to area residents and their guests only, for either all times or for certain days/hours.
Vehicles parked in a residential parking zone during applicable days/hours must display a City Vehicle Sticker with Annual Residential Zone Parking or an unexpired, one-day-use Daily Residential Parking Permit. The zone number on either the City Vehicle Sticker or the Daily Residential Parking Permit must match the permit number posted on the street signs.
Use the Zone Look-up tool to determine whether or not a Chicago address is in a residential parking zone, and if so, which zone number.

I have someone like that on my block but this guy harasses anyone that parks in front of his house WITH a residential parking permit. Next door neighbor, across the street neighbor, couple houses down across the street (me) neighbor ANYONE who parks in front of his house. He calls the police, vandalizes our cars, and screams obscenities at us. Everyone else around me seems to take it but the couple of times he did it to me I called the police on him. He's still ignorant and continues with his childish games but I guess he learned no to mess with me. I was about to press further charges because I have evidence of what he does to everyone but he stopped messing with me.
Some people just think they "own" the city of Chicago streets simply because they own one house.
Ignorant. Childish. And have nothing better to do.

I can understand a person wanting permit parking, i have neighbors that cut through gang ways that live on other blocks ( i am a dog owner and the person will leave my gate open and i have to look for my dog or pay freaking fines trying to find him) i can understand not having any parking from (too many families living in one house, apartment buildings, multiple adults with more than one vehicle) not being able to park in front of your house SUCKS.. heck, sometimes, i have to park around the corner or two blocks away, as a woman it can feel dangerous walking late at night trying to get to a home.
