4600 Block of Paulina

Dog-Friendly Apartment Needed for June 1st

Neighbours,

I'm a responsible, reliable, professional tenant looking to move into a dog-friendly studio or 1 bedroom on June 1st. I currently live in a 2 bedroom in Ravenswood and I love the area, but I would also consider moving to Edgewater, Buena Park, Uptown or Andersonville. My dog is an older, large, potty-trained and well behaved mutt (not a pit mix).

I prefer to be contacted directly by owners or building managers and not brokers. I would also consider a sublet situation if there was a possibility to renew the lease.

Please get in touch!

  • Julie Uptown/Andersonville

Try Bil-Mar Management - I think they have two buildings in the area and are dog-friendly.

  • Nick 4600 Block of Paulina

I will give them a call, thanks!

  • The city just baited the alley between Berwyn and Summerdale in the 1900 block.

  • Cindy i live on the 2200 block of foster and have seen them running wild the past two summers. I know my neighbors garage is full of them, you can see the holes they make. I always tend to make noise before exiting the rear of the house in order to scare them out if the yard. It gotten so bad the past few summers i wont plant for fear im feeding them.

Oh Rogers Park, how I hate to love you.

Albany Park Cyclists?

Hi all,

I'm considering a move from Roger's Park to the Albany Park area, near Argyle and Albany. I'll spare you the typical "what is the area like?" questions, and ask instead, "anyone out there an avid cyclist?" I'd like to get to know more cyclists in the area since I'll be further away from the lake (which is something I'm familiar with and could do with my eyes closed - but don't, obvi :) ). A new route or riding buddy is always welcome.

Thanks!

Albany Park is pretty much the center for cycling around Chicago.

To the east is the North Shore Channel trail which takes you up to Evanston and then on to the Green Bay Trail.

To the west is the North Branch Trail which takes you up to the Botanic Garden. You can got east to the Green Bay Trail or west to the Skokie Valley Trail.

Only a short way south to Elston, and you can take a marked bike lane to downtown.

Along Lawrence, from Western to a little past Milwaukee is another marked bike lane, with a short distance of "sharrows" instead of a lane between the river and Central Park.

To the lakefront, take Wilson to Lincoln, then a block or two south to Sunnyside one-way east to almost the lake front, jumping up to Lawrence or down to Montrose to finish the trip. Or just take the bike lane on Lawrence to Lincoln and then south to Sunnyside.

No matter where you want to go in Chicago, Albany Park is the best place to start from.

  • AlbanyParker, that's a nice route. Alternatively, you could also use Sheridan Road instead of Green Bay Road. And another +1 for Iron Cycles!

Bunny rabbits eating my plants

There are a lot of bunny rabbits in my yard, both full size and youths, and, while adorable, they eat my flowers and perennials. Anyone else in the area have the same problem? Advice on keeping them out? Or, barring that, are there certain plant species that do well around here that the rabbits won't eat?

  • People used human hair to deter deer at a community garden I used to belong to, but it soon became apparent that it didn't deter the deer at all. In fact, some deer started coming into the garden to graze while people were there. They had to build a higher fence.

Saw a bunch of bunnies today on my street. You know what they say about how they (over) breed. NIce to know that if I get really hungry - just kiddin.'

More peanut butter please

Apartment flooded, looking for apartment ASAP

Hello everyone. Unfortunately our apartment flooded on thurs night and it turns out we need to move. We will need to begin moving this week. I am using a few different outlets to find a place, and since not much seems to be out there I thought I'd ask here. No more than $830, one bedroom, near red or brown line or Lincoln or halstead bus. Any suggestions or leads would be appreciative

  • That's great! Hope you get settled in soon.

I do NOT recommend the Schirm Firm, their buildings have mice, roaches, and they let people live there who have not had a reference or credit check. I've lived in 2 of their buildings and really regret it.

cleaning person

hi there can anyone recommend a reliable cleaning person for a two bedroom/1 bath in edgewater? i'd rather it be the same individual every time rather than through a service. i have cats so pet friendly would be a plus. also, any idea on the cost would be super helpful. many thanks!

  • I highly recommend The Green Maid. They use non-toxic pet-friendly products, the prices are very reasonable, and they are licensed, bonded and insured. They send a team of three and except for a couple occasions when they got lost or were running late, I've been very happy for the year + that I've been using them.

  • Ursula K Cleaning Lady

7736984286.. Call me.. I have great references available upon request..
We are small two people team- not a big company.

    Have a great time

Peterson Woods home owner

Graffiti at 5800 N Lincoln

I can't be the only person who noticed and called the Alderman's office about this graffiti but when I called they acted like they hadn't heard of it.

Sometime last week or this weekend someone vandalized several buildings around 5800 N Lincoln (at Francisco) and it continues down the alley. It is the back of several businesses. I also noticed that a homeowner's garage door was tagged. This is horrible. The tags were things like "BOTM" and "RLW". There was also a cartoon face. I'm thinking that these might just be kids from the high school and not gang related.... I'm hoping anyway. Anyone else know anything about those tags in particular?

Thanks! SBEN

I put a Logitech 750i wireless, HD camera up..and pointed it outside from my bedroom window..I turned off the flashing LED....and simply have it kinda visible...I reviewed some recordings...from late at night..seedy looking characters can see it, if they are looking up at my window...I notice them walking on the opposite side of the alley :-) My building got tagged a few months ago...dunno...at least if these jerks try it again, I will have video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdSrMhZymWc
