Lost cat?

Found this guy behind our apartments at Carmen & Glenwood. Gave him some food and saf with him. We aren't sure if he's a wanderer or an actually missing cat. Contact me if you know anything.

Looking for Jessica

This is a long shot but I am looking for a woman named Jessica that has two dogs (maybe golden retrievers?) that was so kind to me and my son on Monday, July 10th after he was involved in a collision with a car on his bike. She stayed with him until I could get there and she stayed on the phone with me and gave me a play by play on him and the arrival of police, ambulance, etc....

She stayed with him until I could get there and she stayed on the phone with me and gave me a play by play on him and the arrival of police, ambulance, etc. She could've kept walking. She could've said she didn't have time to stay with him. But she didn't and I'm so appreciative. Once I got to the scene, I was in a rush to get to my son who was in the ambulance, but I would love the opportunity to thank Jessica in person and properly. She may live near Glenwood/Bryn Mawr. If you know who this may be please let me know. Thank you. (My son is ok - a broken collarbone, but otherwise just fine.)

TRASH ALL OVER

How can I get someone to listen to me, I'm tired of contacting the alderman and city on this subject that's very annoying. There are two businesses which haven't even opened up yet on the corner of Clark and Carmen right below the brand new residential building that just went up a few month ago.
There's a Jet Pizza and Dollop's opening soon with a patio for outdoors eating. I really don't mind that at all it's good for the...

I really don't mind that at all it's good for the neighborhood to bring in the revenue, what makes me furious is how they have placed their trash cans facing out into the street and every time they dump stuff into it the garbage flies all over the block and into our yard which is the building at the corner of Carmen and Ashland.
Not only have they limited our tenant with parking space because of course they had to build garages for their tenants and the entrance for them took two or three spaces where we used to be able to park.
if we had rat issues in the block before now, it's going to be worse with three huge dumpster, two recycling bins and now a grease dumpster for the two restaurants coming up.
I have done everything in my power to get them to build at least a shack around those dumpster. not only does garbage fly all over the block, I feel like I'm living in New York City where you see the trash bins lined up in front of the buildings.

disgusted by it all, please let me know what else I can do.

Talk directly to the restaurant people when they open AND to the residents of the new bldg. I had to do this numerous times myself (plus flyers on their windows) but eventually it helped. Things got cleaner, at least. Good luck to you.

Send these pictures to the development coordinator at the alder mans office directly. Send them into a rat complaint in the 311 system. Call your cook county commissioner. Call streets and San directly and find out who is responsible for the ward. Go to the aldermans office with neighbors during a time that he is there. Call the building management company and send these pictures. 47th streets and San is 312-933-3787 and they will give you your wards number.

  • Thank you both for the response I will follow-up with your suggestions

Pars Persian Store Sadly Closes it's doors

As I walked our neighborhood tonight I was heart broken to notice that one of my all-time favorite stores had left us. Cyrus my dear friend it will be sad to walk by and not be able to stop in and talk with you as we always used to on our nightly walks after dinner.
I heard after two decades In our area that you wanted to retire, my whole entire family including Olga and I will miss your talks, advice and your kindness.
God bless you my dear old friend and happy retirement, well deserved.

  • HarleyGrrl Why YES! People actually DO live on Clark St!

I noticed it last night - he was always the nicest guy. I recall after 911 ensuring he was safe and his business because people were racing up and down Clark looking for someone or something to turn their anger to. We had more middle eastern restaurants here then and wanted to be sure he stayed safe.

Good for him for retiring but he and the store will be missed. A class act for sure

  • Yes, he's missed for sure I loved talking to him about life and he always had such good advice on so many topics. I went to the Andersonville Market and peaked inside his shop almost ad if I would see him wave back as he often did when I didn't walk in. Truly a nice gentle soul.

Dollop,Jet Pizza & Bldg Managers

Please cover those nasty garbage bins with a wall or put them in the alley, not only are we getting rats running around at night but the garbage is flying all over our beautiful block, i will contact the alderman soon. I welcome the business to our neighborhood but, the rats no way

Talk to brad or Ernie at the 47th. Brad is the outreach person and Ernie the developer liaison. The longer the restaurants are sloppy the more rats. The longer they disregard the neighborhood the more entitled they get. It will not improved without streets and sanitation over site and enforcement....

Talk to brad or Ernie at the 47th. Brad is the outreach person and Ernie the developer liaison. The longer the restaurants are sloppy the more rats. The longer they disregard the neighborhood the more entitled they get. It will not improved without streets and sanitation over site and enforcement. Rats are overwhelming the area. A good commercial neighbor will make rodent control a priority. Clean can entice the entire neighborhood towards being cleaner in the alleys.. Everyone needs to NOT feed the rats. Also send pictures to brad@chicago47.org. Streets and San number is 312-744-0111

Report it to 311 and you can follow up on the status with the alderman as they have access to all 311 requests for their ward.

  • FWIW, the Ashland location delivers at least as far north as Bryn Mawr & Clark if you order via Amazon Restaurants.

  • George F in Ravenswood displaced New Yorker

Where is the new one located? I hate traveling to the one on Ashland or the one on Irving.
