In an effort to understand the issues regarding lost mail, slow mail and stolen mail, residents have been working for the last few months to create a series of public forums to help connect neighbors with mail delivery employees. These public forums are meant to address delivery problems and ongoing mail confusion.

The first forum (Monday March 31st at 7pm) will be focused *solely* on the United States Postal Service, and will feature speakers and employees from various departments of the USPS.

This forum is meant to help us get perspective on what the USPS has to go through in order to get us the mail, and how to help them solve delivery problems. As a community we can set goals for the USPS, as well as work with them to help improve mail delivery for our zip code (mainly 60622, but also includes nearby zip codes).

There will be some presentations by the USPS on how they operate. Ideally we can leave knowing more about their concerns and how we can help them see what improvements can be made.

This will also be an opportunity to directly submit feedback, so please consider sharing your story on what you have been dealing with over the last few months (or years). The meeting time will be limited for questions, but we will try to make sure everyone gets their story submitted to USPS either in-person or in-writing.

The best solution is to have open two-way communication with the USPS on what we can do to help them deliver the mail safely and more efficiently.

Thank you and please RSVP for this event, space is limited:

It will be held at A.N. Pritzger School (across the street from Wicker Park), 2009 W Schiller St, Chicago, IL. The date will be Monday March 31st, starting *promptly* at 7pm.

There is a free film screening tonight at the West Town library branch:

High Tech, Low Life follows two of China’s first citizen-reporters as they document the underside of the country’s rapid economic development. A search for truth and fame inspires young vegetable seller “Zola” to report on censored news stories from the cities, while retired businessman “Tiger Temple” makes sense of the past by chronicling the struggles of rural villagers. Land grabs, pollution, rising poverty, local corruption and the growing willingness of ordinary people to speak out are grist for these two bloggers who navigate China’s evolving censorship regulations and challenge the boundaries of free speech.

An Official Selection of the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival. A co-production of ITVS and the Center for Asian American Media (CAAM). A co-presentation with CAAM.

"A Memory, a Monologue, a Rant, and a Prayer: Writings to Stop Violence Against Women and Girls" is a groundbreaking collection of monologues written by world-renowned authors and playwrights. These diverse voices rise up in a collective roar to break open, expose, and examine the insidiousness of violence at all levels: brutality, neglect, a punch, even a put-down.

These writings are inspired, funny, angry, heartfelt, tragic, and beautiful. But above all, together they create a true and profound portrait of how violence against women affects every one of us. A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, And A Prayer is a call to the world to demand an end to violence against women.

We have assembled a brilliant cast that is going to present a powerful production of these monologues. The proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Center for Advancing Domestic Peace whose mission is end domestic abuse through comprehensive, culturally responsive direct service, community education and outreach, and research.. Please join us to be a part of this great show and support this amazing organization.
