To go along with Buckingham Palace, the Royal Family’s principal home in England, Queen Elizabeth II bought a condo last month on the 26th floor of Chicago’s Buckingham building, 360 E. Randolph St., according to a Crain’s Chicago Business report.

    That's how she makes a living. It's not actually owned by the Queen, but by the Crown Estate, which is owned by the British Government and nearly all earnings go to the Treasury. The Crown Estate also ownes several McDonalds, Burger Kings, Pizza Huts and Starbucks franchises. But most of the property is rented residential / retail property in London and quite a large amount of farmland. The Crown Estate also includes the seabed to 12 miles out from shore of the UK (wind farms, oysters & mussel beds). If you strike oil, or find gold on your property, that also becomes Crown Estate, but you get a cut.
    The Queen does earn a fixed profit from the Crown Estate which has a total value of about £8bn this year.

    Properties directly owned by the British Royal family include Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Balmoral & I think Highgrove. But they are not allowed to sell them. The Treasurary does give them an annual budget to help upkeep the properties.

Car crash on W. Lawrence near Talman around 10:15 PM Tues 8/18....

Smashed up passenger car facing south against the storefronts on Lawrence, big stretch limo SUV thing with crashed-in rear end facing eastbound on Lawrence, couple of cop cars with flashing blue lights, waiting tow truck. people milling around, angry men yelling when I happened upon this scene at 10:38 PM

Anybody have details? No ambulances on site but if there were any injuries the ambulance(s) may have come and gone by the time I rolled by.

  • @bill no my car was the blue four door that @levi posted a link with pictures that's my car it was stolen by someone who was drink a lot of beer downstairs from my building and he only had the car for about 40 minutes because we reported it stolen but the police tell then haven't Sao anything to us
