The Ultimate Guide to 2016 Movies in the Parks
There's much to love about the Chicago Park District's Movies in the Park program: They're (mostly) kid friendly, free for your viewing pleasure, and spread throughout the city all summer.

There are some really great movies that were shown this summer, of the ones I know -- American classics such as The Wizard of Oz. I'm glad Wall-E was shown, and Inside Out seemed very good to me. It's interesting (briefly) to adopt a moralistic perspective on these films, and how things have changed (or not) since Hollywood's golden age (under the old Hayes Codes). Cool Hand Luke is a martyr-the-individualist film, with one notable salacious scene and some vivid physical torture. The Sting of course glorifies con men (even if it's in the course of taking down another criminal). Some Like It Hot, one of my personal all time favorites, is about as perverse as a popular entertainment could be when it was released in 1959, and though played for laughs the sexual hijinks, impostures and reversals remain the heart of the film. The public voted for The Dark Knight -- so be it. But maybe in this case curation would help introduce something onscreen less familiar but more heartening for our citizenry.

  • @Jazzmandel: If you are into classic movies, be sure to catch the Coen Bros :Hail, Caesar". Hilarious parody of the studios set in 1950. Probably not appearing in movies in the parks for quite a few years, though.

  • Someone is being cited for unlawful use of a handgun in an alley at 3:30am on a Sunday? This sounds like a crime just waiting to happen.

Midsommer Flight's As You Like It is outdoor Shakespeare done the old-fashioned way, complete with Elizabethan costumes and musical interludes. The banished duke's daughter, Rosalind (Emily Demko), and her sisterly cousin, Celia (Charlee Cotton), flee the frigid atmosphere of court for a life of revelry and disguise amid the forests of Arden.

never said appearance was the only reason for my vote - as implied - I said this was an important part of the overall consideration. Duh! and yes - inactivity does put on the pounds. it comes when you get too comfortable with job security. Voters fault.

Lost Cat Found, Owners Share Tips On Luring Wayward Pet — Hint: Popeyes

They grabbed a bag of cat treats, hopped on their bikes and conducted a search of the area around their home near Rockwell and Lawrence.

Lost Cat Found, Owners Share Tips On Luring Wayward Pet - Hint: Popeyes
LINCOLN SQUARE - Just to reassure our readers at the outset, this story about a missing cat has a happy ending. But the saga started with a tabby named Graham busting out of an open, second-story window, dropping to the sidewalk below and making a run for it while his owners slept.
