Celebrate National Spicy Guacamole Day With These Guac Picks

Harvest Time: Unlike the resy of this list, Harvest Time, 2632 W. Lawrence Ave., is a grocery store. But the fresh guacamole they whip up is worth the lack of margaritas. While you're at it, grab their house-made salsa. And an extra bag of chips. You'll need 'em.

This article has 8 other Chicago locations (Show)

Burrito House: You might cruise past the Burrito House, 3547 N. Lincoln Ave., thinking it's just another taqueria. You'd be wrong. DNAinfo's Mark Konkol swears by their guac, and Yelpers agree — praising the food and low prices.

El Gordo: Our Northwest Side reporter Heather Cherone says El Gordo, 5746 W. Belmont Ave., is "the bomb." One Yelper bemoaned that lack of review choices on the site, saying they would give this Portage Park spot "a million stars."

Bullhead Cantina: Rogers Park reporter Ben Woodard swears by the guac at the North Side Bullhead Cantina outpost, 1406 W. Morse Ave. Not to worry, West Siders — Yelpers say the guac at Bullhead's Humboldt Park location is "cheap and delicious" as well.

Taco Joint: If the standard guac doesn’t get you excited enough, Taco Joint, 1969 N. Halsted St., offers a variety of guacamoles including the Tradicional (avocado, tomato, red onion cilantro serrano pepper...

Big Star: We know Big Star, 1531 N. Damen Ave., gets a lot of praise. But sometimes a place deserves the hype. Big Star's guac features serrano peppers that make it a perfect Spicy Guacamole Day pick — and the option to chase it with a strong margarita with fresh lime juice doesn't hurt, either.

Pancho Pistolas: South Siders dig the guac at Pancho Pistolas, 700 W. 31st St. in Bridgeport. While some restaurants charge an arm and a leg for a tiny portion of the green stuff, Pancho piles it on. You might need extra chips.

Takito Grill: Takito Grill, 601 W. 43rd St., in Canaryville is another South Side favorite. Bonus — it's super affordable.

DeColores Galeria y Sabores: This Pilsen gem, 1626 S. Halsted St., is known for its super fresh food and strong drinks, and their guacamole is a customer favorite. Wanna keep things spicy? Order the chili mango margarita.

    YEAH GUACAMOLE FIGHT!

  • A large guacamole was only $2.50....so I paid for the chips~ Good trade off. Its a carry out joint with seating.
