Mock ‘bake sale’ protest focuses on need to fix school funding

It wasn’t just parents who were making their voices heard Wednesday. Some CPS principals, told to brace for dramatic cuts in funding, planned to rally Wednesday afternoon at New Field Elementary School, 1707 W. Morse. Principals from at least six schools were expected to attend.

Gov. Bruce Rauner morphed into a haughty French queen and Mayor Rahm Emanuel made an appearance as a gingerbread man, as parents protesting cuts to Chicago Public Schools got creative Wednesday. About 150 or so parents marched through City Hall on their way to the Chicago Board of Education's regularly scheduled meeting.

    Here's my thoughts:

What do I think ? Here's what I think, most of the old guard in Sprinfield, have taken care of there children. Most are adults with there own children, they will be well provided for by the rich old guard( our old elective officials still in office. I say let each and every elective officials give a pay check and contribute it towards the deficit they created or ripped off or neglected on watching where our tax money went to while in office. After all they work for us because we elected them. shameful that other countries put education as a priority for there children. While we put education of no importance. While our electives officials live off of our tax money. Or can manage our tax money. I say lets flood the elected officials offices with letters of protest of there carelessness, which our schools, teachers and children are paying the price now. FLOOD SPRINGFIELDS and elective officials WITH LETTERS NOW !!!!! TELL THEM WHAT WE WANT NOW.

  • I have marched since the mayor daily protest, and many many other causes. my son now has picked up my torch and marched for protest these school cuts, affecting his child education. I pray we have passed the torch to our children. So they may feel the empowerment of at least trying to change for a cause true to his heart.
