Did anyone notice the police action in the Rogers Park Social alley this afternoon? (January 31, around 3pm, Glenwood between Farwell and Morse)

An SUV sped into the alley (very fast) as I was walking down Glenwood. It was so fast that I made a point of looking into the alley as I crossed to make sure they weren't going to speed back out & hit me. I saw two men standing over a third lying on the ground. It appeared they were kicking him. I pulled out my phone to call the police. Someone (I thought he worked at Rogers Park Social, but he may have been a customer), came out of the bar & looked into the alley. He went back into the bar & I asked him if he was going to call the police. he said that it was the police in the alley, & they were chasing the man.

Several more plainclothes vehicles went down Glenwood using their sirens (the first car didn't use a siren).

I didn't take any photos or video, mainly because this is the first time I've encountered a situation like this & I froze up. I understand that the police want to protect us, but I live right there on Farwell & Glenwood. There was something about the situation that didn't sit right with me, & I wanted to reach out & see if anyone had any additional information about what happened.

I also emailed Joe Moore to see if he could shed some light on the situation.

My issue is that it is not nessary to beat and kick a drug dealer as part of their apprehension and arrest, even if they were running away. They deserve to get put in jail, not violently beat. Some people may not understand this but people that break the law are still humans just as much as a good citizen. If I am wrong in my opinion, I hope the police use more violence like that on rapists, child molesters, and woman beaters. I would not feel so bad then
