16-year-old boy shot in Rogers Park
A 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg early Monday in the Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side. He was on a sidewalk in the 2300 block of West Granville about 1:15 a.m. when someone shot at him from the other side of the street, according to Chicago Police.

  • Tiredofit, the 24th Police District is not called the "Rogers Park Police District." It's only ever called the 24th District. Its area greatly exceeds the historical boundaries of the Rogers Park Township, so it wouldn't even make any sense to refer to it as the Rogers Park Police District.

Sorry Carl, the official designation is 24, but police districts all have unofficial names. The old 19th was called old town hall, the old 11th was called Fillmore, the 15th is called Austin, the 16th is called Jefferson Park. the 12 is called Shakesphere. The 15th takes in more than...

Sorry Carl, the official designation is 24, but police districts all have unofficial names. The old 19th was called old town hall, the old 11th was called Fillmore, the 15th is called Austin, the 16th is called Jefferson Park. the 12 is called Shakesphere. The 15th takes in more than Austin an the 16 takes in more than Jefferson Park. If you ask any police officer who has been on the job for more than a month they will say that the 24 district is referred as Rogers Park. Does it make sense, not necessarily, but that is how it it is referred to.

CPS to test for lead in water at 28 elementary schools
Chicago Public Schools announced Thursday the list of 28 elementary schools being tested for lead, a measure CEO Forrest Claypool insisted was being taken "out of an abundance of caution."

  • CJL ...

"Wonder What really happened that raised a red flag to conduct testing for lead"

Assuming this is a serious question:

    1. Flint.
    2. Chicago Tribune investigation that Chicago was using BS testing methodology in selecting locations for water quality testing.
    3. It's kids, who are most susceptible to bad effects of lead.

I'd bet a dollar that *most* of the older south and west side schools will show elevated lead levels in the water. Probably not truly high, but elevated.

  • CJL

    This is a serious question

I did not realize the entire importance of this testing lead

Thanks for the info. Hopefully, there isn't any found
