With the weather warming up, how about a Twisted Tapas Sunday brunch for the EB friends?

  • Helen NoH North of Howard for 55 + years

Do you have a particular Sunday in mind, DJ? This next Sunday is the chili cook-off, Heat It Up.

  • Pedrito I offer you the RED PILL, that's all.

    Next Sunday is good.

  • Barbara Marie RP resident since 2002

I'm in once date is set!

  • dj long time RP home owner

No particular date, just what might work for a good turnout. I also suggested Twisted Tapas , but am open to suggestions for a different place.

  • Twisted Tapas has something for everyone on the Sunday brunch menu. The food quality is excellent; service unparalleled and price point very fair. The bar has a wide range of alternative homeopathic remedies for Saturday night hangovers.

In March, I'm available on the 12th and the 26th.

  • dj long time RP home owner

The 12th is good for me. I am going out of the country just after the 26th so I would prefer the 12th.

I will try to bring the kids by so they can meet all of you.

We plan to feature a segment where they read many of your comments out loud for a video library project. It will be great to capture your reactions for posterity. Please dress accordingly.

  • Rob

Will you being bringing the texas coffee cups along with your children?

  • Bruce_ Comment by TBD, whom you've muted

I will have them present them to all the deserving cast of character's.

  • Bruce_ Comment by TBD, whom you've muted

I even have one for you .

  • Bruce_ Comment by TBD, whom you've muted

Be happy to present it to you on camera. Geaux mean green.

    Will you bring me gifts?

  • dj long time RP home owner

So, 5-6 so far have responded positively to meeting. Helen, Pedro, Live, Rob, Bruce, Barb is the 12th good for each?

  • Bruce_ Comment by TBD, whom you've muted

    Perfect.

  • Helen NoH North of Howard for 55 + years

We had a nice group of 7 for brunch on Sunday. Future gatherings will no doubt be organized off EveryBlock for reasons that should be obvious from the above.

  • Bruce_ Comment by TBD, whom you've muted

    Hahaha

  • Sorry I missed brunch this time. The week before st pats is crazy for me. Pm me about the next gathering!

  • Helen NoH North of Howard for 55 + years

Sorry you missed it, Jeanne. I've sent you an email.

  • Bruce_ Comment by TBD, whom you've muted

    Keep us posted.

So Helen you will no longer organize these outings on EB?
Bill and I were enjoying some refreshing beverages on Sunday so we opted to hang with the new crowd moving into RP.

  • Is this high school?

  • PM us for the next one Helen.

  • Speaking_Frankly Rogers Park denizen

Please PM us as well, Helen. We'd enjoy meeting some new neighbors for brunch.

Frankly and Live, it's not always brunch. There have been two or three dinners. (At the first one of those, the Witch made an appearance.) I now have an EveryBlock group email list to use for future events. The Witch is not on it. Those who want to be added to the group, please send me an email through EveryBlock so that I have your email address. I do not share email addresses; the invitations will go out as blind copies. Trying to send personal messages at the time something is being organized is too complicated.

A Witch showed up? How did that go?

  • It was surreal. Almost like a scene in a Buñuel-Dali collaboration.

  • Helen NoH North of Howard for 55 + years

Yes, Jeff, you visit RP's EveryBlock often enough that surely you must have seen comments by the witch or comments about him. He was actually on very good behavior that night, dressed in robes with a staff. He's had so many accounts suspended he may not be even trying to establish new ones anymore.

So the next Luncheon is to celebrate with the witch?

  • Jeffrey Littleton Making the magic happen.

    Helen,
I don't keep a scorecard of who used to comment here. Joe Lake was a standout wonder what happened to that guy?

  • Wazzup not available

Joe Lake gave up because he was treated rudely. Not surprising. This blog is controlled by those who do not tolerate dissent. Educated and social astute folks are not treated well and leave.

  • Manticore

Robojoe had a flurry of activity around the time of the release of the Rahm emails featuring Joe Moore, but he's probably just not up to posting like he used to.

  • Jeffrey Littleton Making the magic happen.

I never understood the whole Joe Lake thing...it just seemed like an awful way to spend your retirement, bickering online and manually aggregating the news of a city he no longer lives in. Its a cautionary tale maybe?

Waaaay back before there was EB or even Facebook Joe Lake was the major thorn in the side of a "developer-friendly" Ald. Matlak, the predecessor to Ald. Waguespack in Bucktown.

I've been accused of being a thorn in the side of a developer-friendly Alderman, in a weird and limited way I am like the younger Joe Lake before he became an over-posting creepy dude with a LOT of time on his hands serving up online condescension by the bucket-full.

I hope he is happier nowadays.

  • rude people are getting treated rudely. Whatever is the world coming to?!
