I've been seeing mice in my 1929 bungalow since the weather got cold. I hate those things and I'm prepared to call in the big guns to get rid of them if necessary. But I have a dog and need to keep him safe. The mice don't seem to be afraid of him and maybe even want to hang out with him. His crate is in the dining room (the warmest room of the house) and he's got a couple treats in there that might be attracting the mice. Can anyone suggest a pet-friendly exterminator or an effective mouse (but not dog) killer that I can get from a hardware store?

Hardware store sells covered mouse traps. Mouse go in. It is a snap trap inside, but covered so it wont hurt dog. Look for holes, under sink, corners, behind fridge, closets. Fill hole opening with steel wool and a piece of duck tape to keep in place. Call exterminator or look for outside holes. Repair outside holes.

Thanks Rita, I will check this out. No mice today, due to warmer temps, but still concerned about future polar vortexes. Anything that kills mice but keeps my dog safe is A-1 in my book. Props to you!
