Grand Crossing
Landmark district proposed for Cottage Grove
Encompassing portions of the Chatham and Greater Grand Crossing communities, the proposed district reflects how the city's 1923 zoning ordinance promoted the development of long retail strips through local neighborhoods. The proposed district also reflects how neighborhood commercial development prospered near the intersections of local streetcar lines early in the last century.
