On January 21, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. three unknown male Black offenders walked into a shoe store on the 7300 block of South Halsted, displayed handguns, and then led employees to the rear of the store where they were tied up. The offenders fled the store with money and merchandise.

Chicago Police Charge Offender in String of Family Dollar Store Armed Robberies
Robert Moore, 29, of the 6400 block of South Morgan Street in Chicago was charged with eleven counts of Armed Robbery . The charges end a more than two month armed robbery pattern. Moore, who is currently on parole for previous armed robbery convictions, typically entered the small retail stores in the late afternoon and displayed a semi-automatic handgun to threaten employees in each of the businesses. He then ordered employees to surrender large sums of money from the cash register and safe before fleeing. Moore brazenly returned to three of the same store locations on separate dates during his armed robbery spree.

Chicago Police Deputy Superintendent Charles Williams Apprehends Burglar While Off Duty
Deputy Superintendent Charles Williams was off duty and happened to be driving past Kennedy King College, located at 740 West 63rd Street. He was armed with previous information of recent break-ins at that location when he observed Walker and another man coming out of the location carrying two canvas bags. The Deputy stopped his car, identified himself, and called the men over. The men dropped the bags and fled.
