Lower West Side, New City ok'd for open space projects
Under this proposal, the City and Chicago Park District would exchange parcels at 74th and Woodlawn in the Grand Crossing neighborhood in order to move the current Woodlawn Park across the streets to 7329 S. Woodlawn Ave. in order to redevelop and enlarge the park from .38 acres to 1.25 acres in size. The City would use the old park facility as part of a proposed affordable housing development project. The Park district has committed $400,000 to the park’s development.

On February 13, 2008 at 7:10 p.m. a female victim was grocery shopping at 9500 S. Stony Island when a white female offender engaged her in a conversation. As the victim was distracted a second white female offender removed the victim's wallet from her purse. Both offenders then left the store.

Wanted for Armed Robbery
Two male black offenders approached lone female victims walking down the street, usually between 8:00 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. display a handgun, announce a robbery and force the victim to the ground and then take her purse. These crimes have occurred in the area of 7900 to 8100 South and Langley to Ingleside Avenues.
