  • Grand Crossing Lower West Side, New City ok'd for open space projects

    Under this proposal, the City and Chicago Park District would exchange parcels at 74th and Woodlawn in the Grand Crossing neighborhood in order to move the current Woodlawn Park across the streets to 7329 S. Woodlawn Ave. in order to redevelop and enlarge the park from .38 acres to 1.25 acres in size. The City would use the old park facility as part of a proposed affordable housing development project. The Park district has committed $400,000 to the park’s development.

  • 82nd to 92nd Streets from Prairie Avenue to Evans Avenue Warning re: Armed Robberies in Gresham (6th) District

    There have been several armed robberies that have occurred in the 6th District between January 11 and January 18, 2008. The offenders approached the victims on the street, displayed handguns and then took their personal property. These incidents occurred between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. The robberies occurred in the area of 82nd to 92nd Streets from Prairie Avenue (300 East) to Evans Avenue (932 East).

  • 700 block of East 84th Place Chicago Police Seize More Than 45 Firearms and Ammunition from the Streets of Chicago on New Year's Eve

    Police seized a variety of weapons including a Tech Nine semi-automatic pistol, a .22 caliber rifle, 22 rounds of ammunition, and four .22 caliber magazines when police viewed shots fired in the Austin (15th) District in the 5700 block of West Ohio. Police seized another Tech Nine pistol in the 700 block of East 84th Place, a .30 caliber rifle in the 4500 block of South Lacrosse, and a 12 gauge semi-automatic shotgun was seized from the 4500 block of South Rockwell. A 30.06 caliber rifle, a .380 semi automatic pistol and .22 caliber shotgun were seized from the 5600 block of South Wabash.
