When 16th District officers arrived and entered the building with the principal, they observed fresh graffiti on the hallway walls and several electronic items, including two portable CD players, stacked near the front entry door. The officers suspected that burglars were still inside the school, but a search by two canine teams did not find any. The school was then processed and secured by evidence technicians. The next day, 16th District officers conducted a follow-up investigation and viewed school surveillance tapes with the principal. The tapes clearly showed two offenders, whom the principal identified as former students. The officers immediately arrested one of the offenders and charged him with one count of burglary.
