City-Supported Developments Win Architectural Excellence Awards
La Casa Norte, Inc., a nonprofit homeless organization, received a grant of $383,917 to rehab a three-flat building at 3507 W. North Ave. into a transitional residence for 16 homeless youths ranging in age from 16 to 21 years. With a small budget, Landon Bone Baker Architects transformed the building into a functional, contemporary space with natural lighting and a rear garden.

It is currently occupied by the Institute of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture. Built in 1895, the two-story structure was designed by the Chicago architectural firm of Frommann and Jebsen.

Wanted for Criminal Sexual Abuse
On 14 Nov 2007 at 4:40 p.m., a 15 year old female victim was walking home on the 1500 block of W. Ohio when an unknown Male Hispanic pulled up to the curb and began blowing kisses at her. He then told the victim to get into his vehicle. The victim refused and the offender drove away.
