Nice to see him actually seeing the CTA up close. I wonder how many aldermen do that? I doubt this will be a regular thing for him, though. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/politics/clout/chi-emanuel-moves-back-in-takes-brown-line-to-work-20110823,0,1147877.story

  • I must say the mayor has good taste - Beans and Bagels is my spot for breakfast.

Maybe this will make our issues with the deteriorating CTA platforms get more notice? ;)

It's nice to see a politician placing himself among the "commoners" for a change, but when you do something that an average citizen does every day, and then call up the press to announce it, I call BS.
When I stopped to give a guy a hand with a flat tire not long ago, you didn't see me calling up Chicago Suntimes and letting them know. That's because I did it for the sake of doing it, not to make myself look better in the eyes of others.

For what it's worth, AParkRes, he specifically said he was doing it to encourage more people to take public transit and to lure companies to Chicago by showcasing the CTA as a perk. He was rather up front about that at his press conference.
